Our Proven 5 Step Rescue Plan

Over the last 20 years the team at Website Rescue has worked on hundreds of websites. We've encountered every problem from hackers to garbage website hosting to poorly configured DNS. Over that time we developed a 5 step plan for how to make sure every website is rock solid and a pleasure to use. We are so confident in our plan that you do not have to pay until your website is fixed. And if we can't fix it you don't pay.

The 3 outcomes we want for you and your your website are:

Security

Security and protection from hackers, denial of service attacks, and anything else the internet throws at your website. It is no use rescuing a website and then throwing it back onto the internet with the same security holes in it.

Speed

Your website server is supported and maintained by somebody who holds both Cloud Practitioner AND Solutions Architect Certifications from Amazon so we know how to configure and tweak the best setup for you.

Peace Of Mind

Stay informed with complete transparency. Every month, you’ll receive a Website Health Report detailing all updates made to your site, the results of nightly malware scans, uptime performance, SEO insights, and more. With this comprehensive report, you’ll always know exactly what’s happening with your website.

Step 1. Investigation

The first thing we do is have a look at what is going on with your website. For this we will need an admin login to WordPress. We will log in to assess the condition of everything and look for any red flags.

We will not usually require access to your CPanel or similar tools, only to WordPress. We will not be accessing your emails or changing anything to do with them. We will not be moving your email hosting to a new service or provider. We are only focused on your website.

We must stress that if we are going to rescue your website then we need to be able to complete these steps in full. We will be moving your website hosting and your DNS servers (not just DNS records). We are happy to deal with your I.T. people directly if that makes things easier.

Step 2. Move Hosting To Amazon

We will get your website somewhere fast and secure. Amazon Web Services is the gold standard for cloud-based website hosting. Your new website hosting will be in 3 parts:

  1. A dedicated web server. Many hosting companies put multiple sites onto one web server to cut costs. This is dangerous and insecure.
  2. A dedicated database server. 99% of WordPress installs have the database and code in the same place. This is great for hackers but not for you! We get your website’s data locked away separately where is is safer.
  3. A dedicated S3 bucket for files. This means images, videos and attachments are faster. Using S3 means that previous versions of uploaded images and documents can be recovered if needed.

We hold multiple Amazon Web Services certifications so we know how to choose the best combination of Amazon services for your website.

Step 3. Recover And Move Your Old Website

During this step we will ask for a list of any changes you have always wanted to make to your website but were never able to. This is a great time to tick off all those pesky items from your to-do list that were always too difficult or you didn’t know where to start.

We will look for hacked code or plugins and fix them. Some of your old plugins might need to be swapped out for newer or licensed ones. We use agency-licenced plugins for Advanced Custom Fields, Fluent Forms, Admin Columns, AWS integration and more so you don’t have to pay a licence for them.

Recovery may take a while if your site was hacked or getting access to it is delayed. On-line stores like WooCommerce may also take longer. We will keep you up to date.

Step 4. Move Your DNS To Cloudflare

The DNS (Domain Name Servers) tell everybody on the internet where to find your website. Think of it as like an old phone book.

Or it USED to be like an old phone book!

Cloudflare is a replacement DNS service that also provides security and a world-wide Content Delivery Network. Your website IP address is hidden from hackers. You get an SSL certificate included. Commonly accessed website files are automatically moved to over a hundred worldwide datacenters so everything is faster. You are protected from Denial Of Service attacks. And heaps more. If your website has been hacked then you’ll know why all this is so important.

We can give your I.T. people access to your new Cloudflare DNS so they are never left out of the loop. If they are already using Cloudflare then we’ll work with them to set it up properly for you.

Step 5. Relax!

You can now relax with a fast, secure, tidy website.

But we have not stopped working. Here is how we keep your website in tip-top condition:

Malware Scanner

Nightly malware scans to make sure nobody has compromised your web server.

Uptime Monitor

15 minute uptime checks to make sure your site is always available.

WordPress Updates

WordPress core and plugin updates applied automatically so your website doesn’t become insecure or unsafe.

Server Snapshots

Nightly snapshots of the server for disaster recovery.

Database Backups

Hourly database backups for recovery of lost data.

Monthly Reports

Every month you will receive a Website Health Report so you know what was done and how your site performed.
